Mathias Augustyniak of M/M Paris

As one half of art and design powerhouse M/M Paris, the artwork of Matthias Augustyniak has played an integral part in many of fashion's most notorious and memorable images. Providing elements of collage to the M/M Paris art directed campaigns of Givenchy, Balenciaga, Calvin Klein and Stella McCartney, and regular fully illustrated covers and editorials for Arena Homme + and Man About Town during M/M's creative direction, the presence of Augustyniak's recognisable work ranges from the sometimes subtle and complimentary to the dominating and aggressively pervasive.

His cover and editorial work with Willy Vandeperre for Arena Homme +'s f/w 2008/09 issue led to the original publication The Alphadicks, a series of 26 drawings inspired by the shoot. Click here to purchase.

text excerpt from M/M Paris official site:

"the book features a series of drawings by Mathias Augustyniak portraying twenty-six elegant young men, with giant phalli protruding from their backs, breaking out of their hats or placed delicately around their shoulders like animals after the hunt. A cheeky text in rhyme written by Glenn OBrien, and entitled Dickheads, introduces the drawings, telling a story about men and their two heads.
A series of ornamented numbers, sketched especially for the book, completes the illustrations in this volume, the first in a series of ? that inaugurates M/M (Paris) publishing imprint."
